BABY, THAT'S THE WAY LIFE GOES ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 Well I woke up late one morning 'Twas early afternoon The radio was playing some godforsaken tune I'm staring out the window And the wind and rain sure blows Well everybody knows Baby, that's the way life goes. I feel so worn out tired I could rest another hour My body says 'go back to sleep' My mind says 'take a shower' And as I lay daydreaming 'Til the sandman softly shows Well everybody knows, baby That's the way life goes. CHORUS Baby, that's the way life goes Baby, that's the way life goes Wen you're feeling lost and lonely And you've slipped so out of tune Your everything's so upside down You don't know what you're doing You know you're just not living But you live the life you chose Well baby, that's the way life goes. I walk into the kitchen for to make a cup of tea The reflection in the window shows Someone who looks like me And as I stare in silence At the shadows, my eyes close Well everybody knows, baby, that's the way life goes. CHORUS I want to chase a rainbow To run and laugh and scream To make a wish upon a star And follow all my dreams I want to know I'm living From my head down to my toes Well everybody knows, baby, that's the way life goes. CHORUS

COLD LONLEY WALLS ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 She came down from out of the mountains Like a snowflake fell from a cloud And everyone thought her so pretty And everyone thought her so proud Then somebody told me her sweetheart Had met with his maker above And she, like a star in the night skies Can't shine without his tender love. She reads all his old worn love letters Each night as she lays in bed Then, placing them under her pillow When each tender word's carefully read Then smiling and sleeping and dreaming Of happier days she recalls Now she sits in her house on the mountain And she stares at the cold lonely walls. Chorus She's so long in life without loving You can see by the look in her eyes She's lost and she's lonely, she's hurting And it's breaking her up deep inside And it's so hard for her to keep living When she cries, it's his name she calls Now she sits in her house on the mountain And she stares at the cold lonely walls. Now some say she's doing much better And some say she's looking so well But those who know her will tell you That sometimes she's going through hell 'Cause life for her ain't all roses 'Cause roses like snowflakes will fall Now she sits in her house on the mountain And she stares at the cold lonely walls. Chorus x 2

THE BALLAD OF ALAN BANNISTER ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 His name was Alan Bannister He was thirty-eight years old I listened very carefully to the story that he told He spoke of his conviction For those who weren't aware He kindly thanked the people Who took the time to care. Chorus Thanks for everything you've done We went so far we almost won How can people be so blind? Hey Mr. Governor, won't you change your mind? To all good Christian people I know this won't make sense I took the life of another man But that was self-defense Condemned by righteous people Who call themselves my peers They sentenced me to death row I've been here for fifteen years. Chorus 'Twas early Wednesday morning At six o'clock our time They gave him an injection And slowly watched him dying Just to ease their conscience They called his death humane Now you can hide your feelings But you can't hide your shame. Chorus Hey, Mr. Governor, how can you justify Premeditated murder? You let this poor man die When the voice of many nations fell upon deaf ears To murder Alan Bannister, it took you fifteen years. Chorus x 2

THE BUMBLEBEE ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 Well I've made up my mind today There ain't nothing gonna get in my way We'll be doing just fine, drinking red wine On the Champs 'Elyssea' I'm gonna kick back and throw up the shoes I'm gonna smile when I'm singing the blues And we'll shade 'neath the trees In the warm summer breeze 'Cause, honey, I've paid my dues. Chorus Hey diddle-diddle, hey diddle-dee I'm as happy as a big old bumblebee Today's my day There ain't nothing gonna get me down. Hey diddle diddle, cockadoodle-doo There's colours in the rainbow other than blue Just open your eyes And let the sun come shining through. Well I don't got a worry or care Kinda feels like I'm walking on air And at the end of the day, if you're going my way Well maybe I'll see you there 'Cause I don't got no clue where I'm going Kinda heading which way the wind's blowing Gonna laugh, gonna sing, gonna do my own thing Destination never known. Chorus Well, life is just a sequence of dreams You're like a rabbit lost and dazed in high beams And at the end of the day, if you go the wrong way It's never quite as bad as it seems 'Cause worry is a prayer for doom And if you don't grow, you never can bloom Yeah, life can be tough But you'll be dead long enough So, honey, I'd change my tune. Chorus

THE CRY 06:01
THE CRY ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 The first time I seen your father cry Was when he looked at you to say goodbye I know it's not easy to let go Only a father will ever know. Chorus This house will never be the same It's hard on everyone to hear your name, Although it's on the tip of every tongue. Your father cried as the chapel bells were rung. You were always very close, you could always talk Hunt the fields together, for miles ye'd walk Work away together, side by side As we carried you away, your father cried. Chorus They say that time alone can heal But time alone can't help the way we feel Then came that dreaded moment all families fear As we lowered you down, your father was in tears. Chorus A life lost so young, oh what a waste In your hour of need, you used such haste And the reason why your father had to cry He never had the chance to say goodbye. Chorus x 2

IT'S JUST YOU ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 Come listen, everybody Come hear me when I tell you That the train to hell won't stop 'Til it takes you to the bottom. And if you go astray And you're on that train someday Well, there's something that you've lost Or totally forgotten. Chorus But I never ever want to hear you say That it was just your life you thrown away Your dignity and pride were out there too And when you stand before your maker It's just you. I am the lone ranger, and I have come to save you And you can take or leave it, if you please Now you can kiss and tell, or you can burn in hell Or pray to God and get down on your knees. Chorus, plus: When you stand before your maker, it's just you When you kneel before your maker, it's just you When you cry out to your maker, it's just you. I am your voice of reason And I am your voice of conscience But I can talk until my face turns blue For if you're on that train Then you've lost all sense of shame Forgive you, God, you know not what you do. Chorus, plus: When you stand before your maker, it's just you When you kneel before your maker, it's just you When you cry out to your maker, it's just you. And when he looks down on you, it's just you And when he tells you that he loves you, it's just you And when he tells you he forgives you, it's just you It's just you, it's just you. It's just you, it's just you.

FUNNY 04:43
FUNNY ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 Funny, when you're looking for no reason You're searching for someone you used to be You're looking at yourself much too hard now With eyes that are not blind but cannot see Scared by your reflection in the mirror With visions of the soul you have denied And it's only when you try to hide your feelings A little more creeps up from deep inside. Chorus And it's funny when you pick up all the pieces And it's funny when you learn to carry on And it's funny how your life can have a reason Funny how it helps to move along. Funny how your life has got so lonely How once upon a time 'twas like a dream Now everything's so different and it scares you And no one seems to hear you 'til you scream How everyone just seems to walk right by you So busy that you're only in their way And no one seems to want to stop and listen They seem to think you've nothing much to say. Chorus Funny when you wake up in the morning You realise you're living one big lie And the only one you're fooling is yourself now You sat and watched your life just pass you by And the anguish that you're feeling is just sadness An emptiness that fills your very soul And bitterness can be no compensation It's time to seize your life and take control. Chorus

YOU DON'T OWN MY MIND ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 Once upon a time ago when I was just a lad An old man told old stories Of times when things were bad He cried himself to sleep at night And called some dead man's name Now you don't know no reason But you can feel his pain. He spoke of times when he was young Of things I never knew How war-like men had bitten off Much more that they could chew How, without choice, you had no voice How many died in vain Now you don't know no reason But you can feel their pain. Chorus You don't own my mind, and you don't own my soul And this picture that you're painting Is quickly growing old And no matter what you want to do No matter how you try You don't own my reason Or my right to question why. Now mothers, warn your children Or kiss them all goodbye It's a crazy game, this thing called war And those who play will die And when they lay in no-man's land And call their mother's name Now you don't know no reason But you can feel her pain. Chorus Now you can scare me, boodie-man And you can make me cry But there's things in life you should not do And people you can't buy And though, in war, you justify The innocent you maim Now you don't know no reason 'Cause you don't feel their pain. Chorus

I'LL SEE YOU TONIGHT IN MY DREAMS ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 When bad times don't show you no reason When good times been gone for awhile When sometimes it's hard to be happy When a man can forget how to smile When dark clouds show no silver lining When everything's black and you're blue I'll just close my eyes and you'll be there I'll be in my dreams with you. Chorus 'Cause life ain't no sweet bed of roses But I'm not no one to complain 'Cause everyone's got their own troubles And besides, I'd have nothing to gain But sometimes a mind shows no mercy When the voice in your head starts to scream I'll just close my eyes, and you'll be there Then nothing's as bad as is seems. Oh, I'll see you tonight in my dreams. Now sometimes when life gets so lonely When sometimes it's hard to be brave When sometimes it feels like you're only Alive with one foot in the grave When nothing goes right like it used to It's hard, but you try to make do I'll just close my eyes, and you'll be there I'll be in my dreams with you. Chorus plus: Yes, I'll see you tonight in my dreams Yes, I'll see you tonight and everything will be alright Yes, I'll see you tonight in my dreams.

THE PRAYER 03:55
THE PRAYER ©Billy O'Dwyer Bob 2002 Oh Lord, won't you hear my prayer I feel sad, are you out there? I feel lost and all alone Destination never known All my life, I've been destined to fail Now I lie in this stinking jail In this stinking jail. When I was young, I heard them say That my daddy ran away Just sixteen when mamma died The padre prayed as he closed her eyes And as I lie in my prison bed The padre's words running through my head Son, you're mamma's dead. Well I grew up fast and I grew up mean The craziest son you've ever seen And in a fight that I began I took the life of another man Now I've been in this cell so long I've realised what I done was wrong What I done was wrong. Well, now I know, the story's told Of men who live their lives for gold But when you're down, there's nothing worse Than to sell your soul for the devil's purse So Lord, if you're out there Oh Lord, won't you hear my prayer Won't you hear my prayer?
